Why do you think some people struggle to understand the concept of 'white privilege' and how would you explain it?
@9KCD3V63mos3MO
It is misunderstood because it is often poorly explained. People need to understand that it is not referring to ECONOMIC privilege. (Whether or not one comes from a wealthy family.) White privilege stems from a lack of BARRIERS. When a white man is pulled over for a traffic offense, he has never had to fear the officer as long as he complies with what the officer asks (license, registration…); the same cannot be said for a man of color. White people don’t raise suspicion for just walking in a neighborhood after dark; the same cannot be said for people of color.

People often view their privilege as basic rights, and believe that if other people got them that theirs would be removed. This is a misunderstanding of the concept.
