Help

 @983K76N from Pennsylvania agreed…1yr1Y

I strongly agree that labor unions help the economy as it ensures that worker's will have their rights protected which will lead to their productivity increasing due to high morale. I personally support them since my eldest brother himself is part of a labor union, and it's lead by my uncle and was founded by my grandfather (who unsuccessfully ran for house one time).

Corporations don't have the best interest in their employees, so the employees should organize to support each other.

Help, but ban their ability to make political donations

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...9yrs9Y

Help, in theory but have recently become corrupt and should have their powers limited

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...9yrs9Y

Hurt, I support some private unions but am strongly against public unions

 @9FWF5QQIndependent from Georgia disagreed…6mos6MO

Unions shouldn't exist because corporations should take care of their employees. Seeing as that isn't the case, unions should be everywhere.

By and large, the time has passed when unions were critical, but they should not be banned. However, hey should also not be able to force employees to join

Labor unions should be formed in response to a major issue that requires group action, solve said issue, then dissolve instead of becoming lobbying groups.

 @8WX2B45 from Virginia answered…2yrs2Y

Both. As a bulwark against abuse of workers, unions provide an invaluable service to their members. However, too many unions have abandoned this basic responsibility in favor of exerting political power to protect outmoded practices and impede innovation.

 @99YW9XG from Texas answered…1yr1Y

Hurt, but are neccesary to stop corporate abuse and greed

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas commented…1yr1Y

How do they hurt..?

 @9CLWDVD from Michigan commented…9mos9MO

We need to stop conflating what's good for the economy with what's good for the American people.

 @BassBennySocialist from Montana disagreed…9mos9MO

A healthy economy can lead to more job opportunities, higher wages, and increased government revenue for public services. Meanwhile, a robust and healthy population can contribute to economic growth by providing a strong labor force. Therefore, it's not about separating the two, but finding a balance where both can thrive.

 @9D3RPBQfrom Guam answered…8mos8MO

Maybe unions always help the economy because the economy should be about the people and grassroots movements focusing on the people and workers are necessary

Regardless, they help give workers a voice against unjust practices by their employers.

Help, and the federal government should incentivize the development of strong labor unions in all industries to protect the rights of workers and maintain high wages and benefits

 @8T7R5TL from New York answered…3yrs3Y

Labor unions definitely hurt the economy, but I still support them because workers/employees need power too

 @9GB8PDQ from Oklahoma answered…5mos5MO

Hurt, They allow for labor workers to decrease their dedication and commitment and expect equal pay for those who put in the "extra mile"

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas disagreed…5mos5MO

Workers who "put in the extra mile" are doing so against their own class interests.

 @9FWBB4Y from Arizona answered…6mos6MO

Hurt. Unions served their purpose, but not they have become just as corrupt as the corporations they were fighting.

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas disagreed…6mos6MO

What exactly do you think their purpose is, and how have they already done it..?

 @8GJQNVHSocialist from Georgia answered…3yrs3Y

Even if they hurt the economy in the sense of making corporations pay more, worker’s right matter more

  @patrickwynneLibertarian from Texas answered…3yrs3Y

There are instances where they help, and others where they have hurt. Strong labor unions are necessary to ensure powerful organization do not suppress worker's rights.

 @8JD9LG8 from Pennsylvania answered…3yrs3Y

This is a ridiculous question. The purpose of unions is not to impact the economy but to help workers.

 @8J7FFB4Progressive from Georgia answered…3yrs3Y

They are a check on corporate power, and are more necessary the less that government does.

 @8HWTM85 from Oklahoma answered…3yrs3Y

I believe they help workers, though not always investers. Whose economy?

 @8HT2D2FSocialist from California answered…3yrs3Y

Help, except in the case of some unions where the people working need to be held publicly accountable, like the police union and occasionally teacher's union

 @8GRKBP4 from Texas answered…3yrs3Y

Labor unions are supposed to protect workers. If the economy is affected negatively it means the corporations were abusing their workers and now the bad economy is a byproduct of corruption coming to light.

 @8WBW7TZ from Florida answered…2yrs2Y

Depends on how much the union leadership exploits their position for their own personal gain

 @8KSQZLD from Maryland answered…3yrs3Y

Unions created safe working environments and livable wages. However, they have become too political. Pros and cons of unions.

I think labor unions help the economy. My Grandpa was actually in a labor union.

 @8X6VWHQ from Michigan answered…2yrs2Y

Labor unions are meant to protect employees from employer abuses. This is a necessary harm to the economy that maintains a quality of life

 @8HTW3KX from North Carolina answered…3yrs3Y

it depends, labor unions are good for workers to band together but they can be corrupt and use their powers for bad

 @9D6RZXM from Virginia answered…8mos8MO

Help in the sense that they ensure fair pay and work conditions, but too often are led by bad actors who protect incompetent employees
