Precisely the same logic is used for taxation, and fixing surplus value theft fixes taxes entirely,…
Marxists have had literally over a century to rebut that kind of claim, which makes thousands of misunderstandings about what Marxists think about economics. For starters, Marxists do not always think they’re entitled to every cent of what they produce, they believe they’re entitled to what HAPPENS to it as the capitalist has a monopoly of that power to control it.
Marxists do not debate that a company needs to make a turnover profit using the money taken from surplus value, which is different than the price, but believe that this is why this kind of system or mode of production rewards greed and immorality. If an ethical company existed that was fine with not making a profit, and instead selling their product at exactly their cost of production, it would be outdone by greedier companies that treat their workers even worse than their competitors. That’s why it’s viewed as inherently immoral, because there is no ethical company that can survive.
The LTV bases the value of something by socially necessary labor time, or what we’d call overall production cost by labor and time. The cost of one’s labor is the basic needs to keep them alive, due to the fact that, in an isolated environment, that will be the bare minimum to sustain a worker’s productivity and health. Socially necessary labor time is built by an average of how long it takes a worker to create the product in optimal or set conditions in the workplace, so the issue of different workers being good at different things is not a problem at all.
The abstract utility referenced in the article holds pretty much the exact same definition as use value, or the human want/need/desire the product fulfills. The exchange value of something is the ratio to which an object or product is equivalent in comparison to something else. Usually the exchange value of something is referenced by the universal equivalent of money, though any unit in replacement could work.
The writers understanding of Marx was generally rather warped, he nev… Read more
