Only grow when it’s needed and too much of anything is bad

If we had unending resources, we'd have to more fully consider how that would shape our society. While we as individuals may think that the "only what is needed" approach is more beneficial, there's more at play here. We don't know what this would be like and it could up-end society or provide a more agreeable world where people were taken care of. We just don't know. I think the topic is interesting, however, and deserves further research.
