The USA infrastructure is far too heavily car dependent - especially when compared to certain European countries.
I dislike how in many regions in the U.S. many people essentially are "required" to have a car to get to work or other essential regions in a time-efficient manner. Additionally, having a car - be it gas, electric or hybrid - is often very expensive for upkeep, repairs, insurance and so on; leaving many poor, working-class members of society having to use either bikes - where many regions do not have bike lanes; putting bike riders in more danger than otherwise - or have to rely on the currently-existing outdated public transportation system. Some roads do not even have sidewalks for pedestrians.
On top of that - car infrastructure upkeep such as highways, is extremely expensive for the taxpayers Rather, I would prefers significantly more focus on funding better train infrastructure -such as a far more expanded / expansive high-speed railway system - as well as ween our society away from being as extremely car dependent as it currently is.
