 @9LCPTCS from New York answered…1mo1MO

When you have a personal connection with someone or some group you tend to empathize more. Foreign exchange programs, travel and just pin pals are good ways to connect.

What emotions stir within you when your national anthem is played?

 @9JF3N8K from Kansas answered…4mos4MO

When I hear the star spangled banner instant chillz go through my body and an infinite amount of energy and freedom pulses through my veins until the final braaaaaaave when I cheer at the top of my lungs.

 @9JF3DGN from Kansas answered…4mos4MO

Reflection on those who died for it to be played, but also an awareness that ultra-patriotism can be a bad thing.

 @9JF3NLCIndependent from Nebraska answered…4mos4MO

I don't really care about the national anthem. You can stand if you want but I don't think you HAVE to stand if you live here. I won't stand if it's played nor will I stand during the pledge of allegiance.

What does it mean to you to be patriotic, and where do you draw the line between patriotism and ultranationalism?

 @9HFD9VBanswered…6mos6MO

A patriot is someone who stands for their country and fights for what they think is right in their country. Extreme forms of nationalism can become potentially harmful because people think to an extreme and it gets out of control.

Patriotism is simply having respect and love for your country, Ultranationalism is when you take action.

Patriotism is supporting your country, and ultranationalism is supporting only your country.

Pride in your country should not impede in the recognition of shortcomings. You should be able to recognize when the nation messed up or did something wrong, and make movements to fix the problem, not dig in your heels and double down.
