Yes

 @9HV4LRR from Iowa disagreed…3mos3MO

Because it's publically funded money taking from public schools. The public schools have to teach to the standards, but the charter schools do not. Public schools people are welcome, but charter schools have deemed enrollment (with a lot of attitude).

 @9FPFS9H from California agreed…6mos6MO

I think charter schools build a higher percentage of scholars than public schools so they are usefull to have to put your child at the school and see him succeed.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...6yrs6Y

No, we should focus on improving our public schools and increasing teacher wages instead

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...6yrs6Y

No

 @9FXM6VVDemocrat from Illinois agreed…6mos6MO

Charter schools can provide an alternative to public schools, but they cannot fix all the problems public schools face. Public schools need to be adequately funded, and charter schools cannot provide the resources and funding necessary to support all the students in a district

 @9FV4GYQ from Texas disagreed…6mos6MO

People should be able to choose where their kids go to school but not at the expense of public school funding.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...6yrs6Y

Yes, and our entire education system should be privatized

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...6yrs6Y

Yes, but not at the expense of funding public schools

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...6yrs6Y

No, and education should not be privatized

 @9FPFS9H from California disagreed…6mos6MO

Yes they should be privatized based on if their following a certain religion or they have history of beeing a private school.

No, the reason the students have higher test scores is because those schools have more funding..take their funding and give it to public schools

They shouldn't need to exist, the same quality of education should be available in public schools instead of needing to pay to get it in a private school.

Parents should be able to choose where their children go to school. More options = better education.

 @9GZDTYYIndependent from Maryland answered…4mos4MO

Government funding should be focused on public schools and increasing teacher wages, but private institutions should still be able to run private schools for families that want private education for their child.

 @99VC8LC from Utah answered…1yr1Y

Yes, AND we should focus on improving our public schools and increasing teacher wages

 @99NK29S from Wisconsin answered…1yr1Y

No, and education should not be privatized, and we should focus on improving our public schools and increasing teacher wages instead.

 @93T88F3 from New York answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but we should focus on improving our public schools and increasing teacher wages as well.

 @8TL7GJD from Utah answered…3yrs3Y

 @8M7ZH94 from New Jersey answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only if they are non-profit and not at the expense of funding public schools

 @9BBYBHL from Illinois answered…12mos12MO

Yes, parents should be able to choose the school they want their children to go to.

 @8TBYC9DAmerican from Georgia answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but we should focus on improving public schools and improving the quality of teachers at public schools then consider increasing their wages

 @8L9BZD6 from Indiana answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but not at the expense of funding public schools, and as long as same standards are used to evaluate. There's been some thumbs on the scale in areas to support otherwise failing charter schools and at the expense of public education.

These should definitely be non-profit.

 @8HXQZTY from Missouri answered…3yrs3Y

in some cases yes but putting charter school funding over public school is morally wrong and our education system needs to be improved, its not right that 20 minutes away there's schools that cant afford basic supplies while there's schools with an influx of supplies and have extra money to afford ipads and extra things for clubs and so on.

Yes, and state should make it easier for more charter, magnet, and vocational/technical schools to be created in school districts and receive accreditation

 @9L4R9YCRepublican from Missouri answered…3 days3D

Yes, I think we should take the concepts of charter schools (having emphasis on students' needs and interests) and put into the agenda of public schools and provide more in depth summer schools that help students move forward. I think teachers should be paid more and given help with less students,. I think education for the most part should be done with individual students in mind instead of just as a group. I think we should still have an emphasis on core classes such as english, mathematics, science, and history. However, it does not take twelve years to learn all of it. We should have the kids be proficient in it and not be allowed to move along in certain classes if they did poorly.

 @9L2H4K7Independent from Tennessee answered…7 days7D

Yes, but not at the expense of public school funding. As well we should increase the wages for teachers.

 @9KX7X9C from West Virginia answered…2wks2W

I support the general concept of charter schools, but I don't want to support them with my taxes. If a family wants to send their child to a private school that's their business.

 @9KWD3FL from Georgia answered…2wks2W

Education should not be privatized and teachers should be paid a significant amount more than they already are.

 @9KTJSSHRepublican from Florida answered…2wks2W

Tax money should not go to anything but public schools. We need a national K-12 curriculum with standardized textbooks and testing for each subject in each grade. We need a much longer school year and national qualifications for teachers. Parents should serve as a board of directors for any school their children attend and have the power to hire and fire school staff.

 @9KPBF7SDemocrat from Florida answered…3wks3W

No. We need to reform our education system to use methods that have proven successful for decades elsewhere.

 @9KH7ZYHfrom Montana answered…4wks4W

Parents should have the choice where to send their children to school whether it be a charter school, a private school, a public school. Public schools are important and should be improved to give a high quality education to everyone and improve teachers salaries but not every parent should be forced to send their kid to a public school.

 @9KCD3V6 from Colorado answered…4wks4W

The entire system needs overhauled. Ban private schools and adequately fund all public schools and teachers, using Finland’s system as a model.

 @9KBDNT4 from South Carolina answered…4wks4W

Yes, but give students more accessibility and more benefits. Give them transportation and everything needed to correctly learn.

  Deletedanswered…1mo1MO

I'm in both sides of this issue; but we need to redistribute the budget between private and public education system to an equal amount; mostly.

  Deletedanswered…1mo1MO

Yes, but only if they are non-profit; but not at the expense of funding public schools; No, and education should not be privatized; we should focus on improving our public schools and increasing teacher wages instead.

 @9JZF9HW from Massachusetts answered…1mo1MO

Yes, as part of a publicly funded school district. Children all deserve an education and that includes options tailored to their learning needs.

 @9JYLN9TIndependent from Vermont answered…1mo1MO

Yes and no, education should be available to all and charter schools are acceptable if they do not discriminate against populations and have equitable funding to public schools not more funding.

 @9JVSJ6V from New York answered…1mo1MO

Rather than focusing on the superiority of a specific type of schooling, we should entirely reform the way we approach school, I.e. Ivan Illich

 @9JVRPF8 from Utah answered…1mo1MO

Yes but only if the charter schools have a specific purpose or difference such as Montessori or special ed and private schools should not exist.

 @9JVFLCF from New York answered…1mo1MO

Education requires a sweeping reform. Rather than supporting a specific type of schooling, I believe in diverse methods of education.

 @9JQBKSZIndependent from Virginia answered…2mos2MO

Private education should become more monetarily accessible, however public education should always remain an option.
